Araiya Palampur - A Breath of Fresh Air
Soak in the sunshine, breathe in crisp mountain air, and let nature take over, when you enjoy a relaxing #SafeStay at our retreat in the Himalayas
Himalayan vistas, sunny skies and crisp mountain air -- just the tonic you need!
At this time of year, the clouds lift off the Himalayas to reveal brilliant sunshine reflecting off the snowcaps. A hot toddy around a crackling fire sets the pace for a relaxing and uplifting holiday with friends and family. Araiya Palampur is your ideal gateway to Himachal Pradesh’s clean mountain air, mind-boggling scenery and rustic charm.
As India starts to unlock and travel restrictions ease, we all yearn to be outdoors and in nature, yet travel safe. A SafeStay at the Araiya Palampur rejuvenates your mind, body and soul as you immerse yourself in our gorgeous environs.
“It has been reassuring to see family holidays pick up again with the opening up of state borders. For most urban families, just being able to go beyond four walls, to enjoy simple pleasures such as soaking in the sun and breathing in fresh air without worrying about crowds and distancing has become a welcome respite,” says Araiya’s founder, Amruda Nair.
No one appreciates the need for a safe haven more than we do. Araiya SafeStays incorporate several safety and hygiene measures for the protection of both our guests and our artisans. All our measures are being rolled out in alignment with the regulations laid out by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). [See details in the box]
Give Yourself A Break!
Escape the daily grind. Having a safe haven you can check in to without a hassle makes it so much more reassuring to take elderly parents or young children on a much deserved break. Our team is fully trained in our SafeStay protocols and is delighted to welcome you to the Araiya Palampur. They will immediately make you feel right at home, so that you can put your feet up and relax.
Take A Hike!
Palampur is ideal for secluded picnics, tranquil walks and invigorating bike rides. If you’re lusting for adventure, try a hang-gliding lesson. Or simply curl up on your verandah with a book. Warm up with a cup of delicious hot chai, made with fresh leaves from Palampur’s tea gardens. Sink into a comfy sofa with a hot toddy and a snack at the bar.
Digital Detox Overdue!
For all of us who are working from home at the moment, it’s time for a digital detox and some serious screen downtime. Explore the ancient history of the Kangra valley with a visit to Kangra fort. Loosen up with an inspiring yoga session. (For those who still insist that they need to sneak a peek at their device, we’re a fully wired, tech-savvy hotel.)
With Diwali holidays just around the corner, it’s a terrific place for your children to not only be free-spirited, but also imbibe the culture and spirituality of the Himalayas.
Remote Working Nomad!
Does it matter where you’re working from, as long as you can check in online? Chances are it doesn’t. If you’re a digital nomad who works remotely and is looking for a change of scene, then check in to the Araiya Palampur for a long-stay that is tranquil, tech-savvy and value for money.
Amruda Nair feels that mindsets have evolved substantially and that remote working platforms give people the freedom to move like never before.
“In addition to the anticipated staycation to drivable destinations, another interesting development is the idea that one can not only work anywhere but also live anywhere. Packing up the family and moving to the mountains for an extended period without disrupting school or work is now an alternative that many had not considered as an option before.”
It’s so much easier to think out-of-the-box when you don’t have to worry about the laundry, the groceries and what you’re going to cook for your next meal. Feel inspired and focus on being productive and creative. We will take care of the rest.
Home Grown, Home Cooking!
At the Araiya Palampur, your wellbeing is our priority. Our artisans whip up nutritious yet delicious delicacies. Whether it’s signature Kangri cuisine (our recipes are straight from the kitchens of local grandmas!), or comfort food favourites, be rest assured that it is hygienically prepared, nourishing and wholesome.
Gluten free? Lactose intolerant? Vegan or Jain? Don’t worry. Our artisans are happy to customize menus to suit your individual dietary preferences. Dig into meals that include fresh fruit from local orchards and produce from neighbouring farms. If you like, take a hands-on (socially distanced) Kangri cooking lesson with our culinary artisans. You can also learn more about the tea-process with a visit to the tea-gardens close by.
After a stressful lockdown period and huge changes in everyone’s lifestyle, it’s time to breathe and unwind. Take a deep breath and clear out the sweat, smog and grime. Breathe in lungfuls of crisp, cool, Himalayan air.
Feel restful as you look out upon gorgeously landscaped gardens and pine forest, as far as the eye can see. Our plush beds give you an excellent night’s sleep. Waking up to the birdsong in the morning is bound to put a dreamy smile on your face.
If you’re ready to start packing, we’re ready for your arrival! Bring your family and friends. Your safe haven at the Araiya Palampur awaits.
